Please open this document in TeachText v7.x or SimpleText because there are pictures in it that only these two applications will display.
If you provide sufficient information Triangle Solver will complete the unknown angles and lengths of a triangle as well as the area of the triangle.
Triangle Solver will complete any SAA, SSA, SSS, ASA and some SAS triangles.
Note: Triangle Solver will solve for only one set of answers for a SSA (the ambiguous case) triangle if it has two sets of answers.
Note: Triangle Solver will not solve a SAS triangle in which the given angle is not 90°. (I am working on this.)
You need Microsoft Excel 4.0 (or later) or a program that can convert Excel 4 documents.
Open Triangle Solver v1.4. (Triangle Solver should already have a 3-4-5 triangle in it.)
Enter your known information in cells B4:B9. (The blue cells if you have a color monitor.)
Note: Angles should be entered in degrees!
Your completed triangle's information should appear in cells D4:D9 and cells F4:F7. (The green cells if you have a color monitor.)
Triangle Solver will not accept known information that consists of 4 or more peices of information. If you input 4 or more pieces of information you will receive a "Less Info !" message.
Triangle Solver will check for common errors in the information such as:
1) Negative numbers, 2) Total angles greater than 180°, 3) More than one angle of 90°, 4) Sum of one or two angles that equals 180°. These types of errors will show up as a "Not Real !" message.
Other types of errors will either show up as an "Error" message or in rare occasions as invalid information.
